STEM Camp: Solar Science

10:00 AM – 11:00 AM
Bremerton - Sylvan Way

Description

Tweens and teens ages 9-18 can experience the raw power of the sun as we deploy the Solar Titan—a massive, 50-foot thermal membrane that uses solar radiation to defy gravity—in a high-scale experiment in buoyancy and thermodynamics. Watch as the black surface absorbs UV energy to create a "Solar Ghost" that towers into the sky, teaching you the secrets of air density and atmospheric lift. After conquering the atmosphere, head to the "lab" to manipulate molecular phase shifts with a classic summer treat.

In partnership with the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard STEM Outreach team.
